About Visual Impairment
Visual impairment is a term experts use to describe any kind of vision loss, whether it's someone who cannot see at all or someone who has partial vision loss. Some people are completely blind, but many others have what's called legal blindness.
Given the right training and tools, children with visual impairments will develop the same early literacy abilities as their peers and master the coping skills they need to work around their impairments.
Learning science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) subjects without using graphs, diagrams, and other drawings or representations is one of the major challenges faced by students who are blind or suffer from visual impairment of any kind. This often forces them to even choose subjects out of compulsion that they might not wish to pursue.
